Reveal 0020: Macintosh Plus - Floral Shoppe

Today we are looking at, Floral Shoppe by Macintosh Plus. Released by Olde English Spelling Bee as catalog number OESB-92 in 2017 for this original 2011 release. This is the only official vinyl release of this album, although it is not without controversy, with many orders remaining unfulfilled.

This marks the first release, harkening the birth of the vaporwave scene, from Vektroid aka Macintosh Plus. The cover has a now familiar composite style image with imagery from different cultures and time periods. The back contains the tracklisting.

This release also includes a poster of the image used on the label.

Reveal 0019: Bolt Thrower - War Master

Today we are looking at, War Master by Bolt Thrower. Released by Earache as catalog number MOSH029FDRUS in 2017 for this original 1991 release.

This marks their third full length release and second release on Earache. The cover has a wonderfully bloody battle scene from Pete Knifton, which continues on the back, along with the tracklisting in an inset. The inside of the gatefold has an image of the band.

The slipcase contains artwork from Pete Knifton again, as well as Ian Cooke. The album is pressed on a single black LP for sides One and Two.

Reveal 0018: Lebanon Hanover - Why Not Just Be Solo

Today we are looking at, Why Not Just Be Solo by Lebanon Hanover. Released by Fabrika Records as catalog number FP007-2 in 2017, for this original 2012 release.

This marks the debut full length release for the duo. The cover has an image of the two framed in the center, with the band name and album title above. The back contains the tracklisting and credits for the album.

This release includes an insert with the lyrics for the side A tracks on the front, along with an image of the band enjoying an ice cream on a hot summer day. While the back contains the lyrics for the side B tracks, along with the duo enjoying the beach on a lovely summer’s day.

The album is pressed on one black LP. While the sides are not labeled, they do use an inverted color scheme on the labels to differentiate between sides A and B.

Reveal 0017: Dethklok - The Doomstar Requiem

Today we are looking at, The Doomstar Requiem - A Klok Opera by Dethklok of Metalocalypse. Released by BS Records as catalog number BSR2013-2 in 2014.

This marks the final release for Dethklok of Metalocalypse fame. The cover has a great composite image for this rock opera culminating the series. This is number 107 out of 500 total copies hand signed by Brenden Small, along with what appears to be Gene Hoglan’s signature below. The back contains the tracklisting above an image of the doomstar. The inside of the gatefold has a scene from the final moments of the guitar solo play-off between Skwisgaar Skwigelf and Toki Wartooth, along with the credits for the album.

The album is pressed on 2 picture discs for sides A, B, C, and D.

Reveal 0016: Everything But The Girl - Walking Wounded

Today we are looking at, Walking Wounded by Everything But The Girl. Released by Simply Vinyl as catalog number SVLP 321 in 2001 for this original 1996 release. This is the 180 gram limited edition reissue from Simply Vinyl.

The cover has Tracy getting ready with Ben looking on, in the back of a Lincoln. The back mirrors the band name and album title to display from righ to left, a popular style in the late nineties, as well as the tracklisting and grand chandelier. Almost like a mirror ball.

This release contains an insert with the lyrics on one side, and the credits on the opposite side. A second promo insert is included that shows the rest of the titles in the 180g reissue series.

The album is pressed on a single 180g LP for sides A and B.

Reveal 0015: El Guincho - Pop Negro

Today we are looking at, Pop Negro by El Guincho. Released by Young Turks as catalog number YTLP047 in 2010.

Today we are looking at the Monument Valley Soundtrack by Stafford Bawler, OBFUSC, and Grigori. Released by iam8bit as catalog number 8BIT-8009 in 2016.

While the second is pressed on opaque blue for sides C and D, and is housed inside a starry night scene slipcase.

Today we are looking at, Lil’ Golden Book by Princess Chelsea. Released by Lil’ Chief Records as catalog number LCR 030 LP in 2011. This is the first pressing of this debut release from Princess Chelsea.

Reveal 0012: Efterklang with Copenhagen Phil - The Piramida Concert

Today we are looking at, The Piramida Concert by Efterklang with Copenhagen Phil. Released by 4AD as catalog number CAD 3316 in 2013.

This album is from the Piramida tour, which had Efterklang performing with orchestras around the world. This recording is from their performances in Denmark with Copenhagen Phil. 

The cover has a geometric pattern, with the title and conductor listed in the upper left. The back continues the geometric theme, along with the tracklisting. The inside of the gatefold inverts the black and white color scheme, for the same geometric pattern, and includes the credits for Efterklang, guest muscians, as well as Copenhagen Phil.

The album is pressed on 2 LPs, the first is housed in a sleve showing images taken from the performance, as well as some information explaining how both the Piramida studio album, and orchestral concerts were conceived. The first record is pressed on white for sides A and B.

The second sleeve contains more images from the concert, as well as the full listing of Piramida concert dates. Sides C and D are pressed on Black.

This release also includes a CD with the same tracks as the records, housed in a paper sleeve.

Reveal 0011: Why? - AOKOHIO

Today we are looking at, AOKOHIO by Why?. Released by Joyful Noise Recordings as catalog number JNR302 in 2019.

This is the limited edition triple 10” release, number 126 out of 1000, made available to Joyful Noise VIP members. One in five of this release were signed by Yoni Wolf, as seen in this example here.

The cover has a distorted image, harkening back to the days when home video were on VHS tapes. The back has the tracklisting, and same distorted VHS tape visual.

A booklet is included, with the lyrics and credits.

Each slipcase has an image from the accompanying videos for each set of tracks, with the labels matching an instance of the scene on the slipcase.

The album is pressed on Blue and Bone for Sides I and II. Yellow and Bone for Sides III and IV. While Red and Bone is used for sides V and VI. All sides spin at 45RPM.

Reveal 0006: Björk - Debut

Today we are looking at the debut solo release by Björk, Debut. Re-released by One Little Indian as catalog number TPLP31DMM in 2008, for this original 1993 release. This is from the Direct Metal Mastering pressing series, as noted by the sticker on the protective sleeve.

The cover has the now iconic image of Björk, along with the production number out of 1000. This one is number 176. While the back contains the tracklisting for the album with an A-side/B-side split, not reflecting the 4 sides this reissue provides for the songs.

The album is pressed on 2 200 gram LPs, and plays at 45RPM, for this ultra high fidelity reissue.

Today we are looking at the debut self titled release by Moaning. Released by Sub Pop as catalog number SP1216 in 2018. 

The cover has a broken window collage scene, set atop a nightime background, while the back contains the tracklisting.

The slipcase has an unbroken window collage scene, set atop a daytime background, while the back of the slipcase has the lyrics for all tracks. 

This is the limited ‘Loser’ edition of the vinyl, pressed on opaque pink and white swirl for this single LP release.

Reveal 0004: Matt Berry - Opium

Today we are looking at, Opium by Matt Berry. Released by Acid Jazz Records as catalog number AJXLP372 in 2015.

This is the second pressing for this original 2005 release, limited to 500 copies, with 100 sold in retail outlets, and the remaining 400 offered at Matt Berry’s February 13th 2015 performance at The Forum in London. This copy is number 487 out of 500, as printed on the back cover.

Reveal 0003: Super Hang-On Soundtrack

Today we are looking at the Super Hang-On Soundtrack, composed by Namiki, Koichi; Hayashi, Katsuhiro; and Ohwada, Shigeru. Released by Data Discs as catalog number DATA004 in 2015.

This plays at 45RPM and the original source material was captured directly from an original arcade machine soundboard, specifically the ‘Mini Ride-On’ model.

The cover has an obi strip, with a die cut Super Hang-On logo showing the sleeve underneath. One side of the sleeve shows a stylized version of old television scan lines with a gameplay image in the background, while the second side shows a nice bright image of the Super Hang-On logo screen. The back shows a world map of each Super Hang-On stage, as well as the track listing for the record.

This limited edition variant is pressed on clear with a beautiful red, white, and blue splatter. The labels alternate between a blue, white, red; and a red, white, blue motif respectively for sides A and B.

Reveal 0002: Bogdan Raczynski - alright!

Today we are looking at, alright! by Bogdan Raczynski. Released by Rephlex as catalog number ’cat 193 lp' In 2007. 

This marks his 6th full length release. The cover is gold and embossed on a stark black background. The back is all business, only listing the total of 8 tracks, and runtime of 42.5 minutes. The text contains the marketing verbiage to sell the album to the listener.

The album spans across 2 black LPs, all tracks are named alright! and are numbered A1, A2, for side A, and AA1, AA2, for side AA.

The second record contains tracks AAA1, AAA2, on side AAA, and AAAA1, AAAA2 are on side AAAA.

Reveal 0001: Persona 5 Soundtrack - Deluxe Edition

Today, we are looking at the Persona 5 Soundtrack, composed by Meguro, Shoji at Atlus, and released by iam8bit as catalog number 8bit-8069…

This release is the deluxe limited edition of the soundtrack, containing 6 LPs in a box set. 

The cover art has a lenticular image of the Phantom Thieves, which changes between the masked and un-masked versions of each as you move across the image horizontally.

Additional Items in the box set include a ransom-letter style sticker sheet, for creating your own message on the back of the box set, in response to how the soundtrack makes you feel.  A calling card containing a message of gratitude from Meguro, Shoji is included in the box set as well. 

The box has a fabric strap for removing the 6 LPs, revealing the plaid pattern used to line the inside of the box underneath.

There are 4 sleeves representing the outfits of 4 of the phantom thieves, the final 2 sleeves are for the confidants Caroline and Justine.

The first record is contained in a sleeve representing Joker’s outfit. The back has the track listing, with Joker’s mask representing side A, and Sakamoto, Ryuji’s mask representing side B. This record is pressed on Black.

The next sleeve shows Takamaki, Ann’s outfit, with Ann’s mask, and Morgana’s mask representing sides C and D, respectively, of this Grey pressed LP.

Next has Kitagawa, Yusuke’s outfit on the front of the sleeve. With his mask, and Niijima, Makoto’s mask representing sides E and F. This one is pressed on clear.

Last of the phatom theives records has Sakura, Futuba on the cover. Sakura, Futuba’s mask is used to denote side G, with Okumuru, Haru’s mask used for side H. A translucent red is used for this record.

The final two records are housed in sleeves representing the confidants Caroline and Justine. Caroline’s cap letters, X-M-R-N note the first record containing sides I and J. Finally, Justine’s cap letters O-Y-O-O are used for the final record containing sides K and L. Both of these records are pressed on translucent blue.
