Reveal 0116: Jeremiah Sand - Lift it Down

Today we are looking at, Lift it Down by Jeremiah Sand. Released by Sacred Bones Records as catalog number SBR239 in 2020.

This is the Sacred Bones Record Society release for this album, and is housed in a wraparound sleeve with an image of the ficticious cult leader from the movie 'Mandy' on the front, and is wax sealed with the numbering out of 150 copies on the back.

The cover has an illustration of Jeremiah Sand over a desert. The back contains the tracklisting. Opening the gatefold reveals a mirrored illustration of the cover artwork on the left, with the desert burning. While the right side contains some text surrounding the ficticious “discovering" of the Jeremiah Sand recordings.

An insert is included proving the authencity of the Sacred Bones Record Society release.

This marks their first EP prior to the release of their debut album ‘The Call of the Wretched Sea’. The cover has a scene from Moby Dick, with the band name and EP title. The back contains an illustration of a man being eaten by a fish, along with the numbering out of 150 copies. This release is housed in a folded sleeve, opening the sleeve reveals the lyrics, credits, thank you notes, and photos of the band members.

Reveal 0065: Vinyl Moon Volume 001: Orbiting

Today we are looking at, Vinyl Moon Volume 001: Orbiting. Released by Vinyl Moon as catalog number Volume 001 in 2015.

This marks the start of the Vinyl Moon subscription club. The cover has an image of the solar system, with the celestial bodies die cut and showing the color from the inside of the gatefold underneath. The back is zoomed in to part of the solar system, and shows other, smaller, celestial objects in orbit, as well as the numbering, 135 for this copy, out of 500 total copies. Opening the gatefold reveals an instrument panel providing the colors for the planets and star on the front cover.

It also includes 3 cutouts on the right side showing the track number, artist, and song title for each track as the slipcase is removed.

This release includes a packet with a folded insert containing a message from the founder, regarding the start of the subscription service. Also included is a sticker sheet, and a postcard with imagery on the front, and the lyrics on the back for each track. 

The slipcase shows different space themed images on the front, along with the tracklisting as seen through the cutouts on the inner gatefold.  The back of the slipcase shows a launching space shuttle, with several birds taking flight. The album is pressed on one grey marbled LP, with the solar system orbits on side A, and an instrument panel on side B.

Today we are looking at the Dancer in the Dark soundtrack, Selmasongs by Björk. Released by One Little Indian as catalog number TPLP151DMM in 2008 for this original 2000 release. This is the Direct Metal Mastering edition of this album

The direct metal mastering releases contain an outer PVC sleeve with a sticker noting the special edition. This example is number 681 out of 1000 copies. The cover has a polygonated image of Björk as the titular Selma. The back contains the tracklisting, along with the credits.

Reveal 0017: Dethklok - The Doomstar Requiem

Today we are looking at, The Doomstar Requiem - A Klok Opera by Dethklok of Metalocalypse. Released by BS Records as catalog number BSR2013-2 in 2014.

This marks the final release for Dethklok of Metalocalypse fame. The cover has a great composite image for this rock opera culminating the series. This is number 107 out of 500 total copies hand signed by Brenden Small, along with what appears to be Gene Hoglan’s signature below. The back contains the tracklisting above an image of the doomstar. The inside of the gatefold has a scene from the final moments of the guitar solo play-off between Skwisgaar Skwigelf and Toki Wartooth, along with the credits for the album.

The album is pressed on 2 picture discs for sides A, B, C, and D.

Reveal 0006: Björk - Debut

Today we are looking at the debut solo release by Björk, Debut. Re-released by One Little Indian as catalog number TPLP31DMM in 2008, for this original 1993 release. This is from the Direct Metal Mastering pressing series, as noted by the sticker on the protective sleeve.

The cover has the now iconic image of Björk, along with the production number out of 1000. This one is number 176. While the back contains the tracklisting for the album with an A-side/B-side split, not reflecting the 4 sides this reissue provides for the songs.
