Today we are looking at, Akira Symphonic Suite by Geinoh Yamashirogumi. Reissued by Milan as catalog number MLN1-36804 in 2017, for this original 1988 release.

The cover has the composer name, album title, and movie artwork. The back contains the tracklist, and Kaneda sitting on Tetsuo's throne. Opening the gatefold reveals a view of Neo Tokyo's skyline.

This release included two printed inner sleeves, with information about the composer and an illustration on the first. And the credits and an illustration on the second.

Reveal 0462: Studio Ghibli 7inch Box

Today we are looking at, the Studio Ghibli 7inch Box. Released by Tokuma Japan Communications as catalog number TJKA10021 in 2019.

The cover has the boxset title, the movies showcased, and my neighbor. The back contains the tracklist for each disc, movie release dates, and the credits.

The boxset includes a plastic Studio Ghibli themed 7" adapter.

The boxset includes 5 7" 45RPM records. The first 4 are pressed on black, and the 5th was either red, blue, or yellow and was randomly chosen for this first pressing release.

The first disc includes a double sided triple folded insert with artwork for the movie, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, and a photo of the artist on the front, and information about the movie, artist, and song lyrics on the back. The single was pressed on black for sides A, and B.

The second disc includes a double sided folded insert with artwork for the movie, Castle in the Sky, and a photo of the artist on the front, and information about the artist and song lyrics on the back. The single was pressed on black for sides A, and B.

The third disc includes a double sided folded insert with artwork for the movie, My Neighbor Totoro, and a photo of the artist on the front, and sheet music, information about the artist, and song lyrics on the back. The single was pressed on black for sides A, and B.

The fourth disc includes a double sided folded insert with artwork for the movie, My Neighbor Totoro, and a photo of the artist on the front, and sheet music, information about the artist, and song lyrics on the back. The single was pressed on black for sides A, and B.

The fifth disc includes a single sided insert with a Christmas themed illustration of Totoro. The single is pressed on translucent blue for sides A, and B.

Today we are looking at, A Charlie Brown Christmas by Vince Guaraldi Trio. Reissued by Analogue Productions as catalog number APJ 8431 in 2014, for this original 1965 release.

Reveal 0134: Gremlins (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Today we are looking at, the Gremlins Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Jerry Goldsmith. Released by Mondo as catalog number MOND-083 in 2016. 

This is the deluxe edition from Mondo. The cover has an image of Spike, with invisible UV sensitive writing which will be revealed when exposed to sunlight (not seen here). The back contains the tracklisting, as well as an image of Gizmo strung up with Christmas lights, with additional UV sensitive writing (not seen here), the full scene is revealed across the outer gatefold. Opening the gatefold reveals an illustration of the moment the Gremlins hatched from their pods.

This release included an OBI strip with release information.

This release includes two printed inner sleeves, the front of each contains water sensitive writing (not seen here), with Gizmo on the first, and Spike on the second. While the back of the first contains the album credits, and the back of the second containing the musician credits.

The album is pressed on 2 LPs, the first is brown and white swirl, or Mogwai, for sides A and B. The second is pressed on green and white swirl, or Gremlins, for sides C and D.

This release is housed in a thick poly sleeve, with a flap on the back.

The album is pressed on 2 picture discs; with Jack on side A; Oogie Boogie on side B; Lock, Shock and Barrel on side C; and Sally on side D.

Reveal 0129: Parasite Original Score - Jung Jae Il

Today we are looking at, the Parasite Score by Jung Jae Il. Released by Sacred Bones Records as catalog number SBR-247 in 2020. 

The cover has this composite illustration of Ki Taek. The back has a composite illustration of Yeon Kyo. Opening the gatefold reveals a photo of the less economically fortunate family enjoying a nice meal. This release also includes an OBI strip, seen here.

This release was included in the Sacred Bones Record Society subscription club, and included a mixtape from DJ Greg Hignight, released with catalog number SBRS-038, with the tracklist included inside the tape insert.

While the second contains a photo of the more economically fortunate family on the front, and the tracklisting, credits, and notes on the album on the back. The album is pressed on white with grey swirl, or “Scholar’s Rock”, for sides A, B, C, and D.

Reveal 0097: Halloween: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Today we are looking at, the Halloween: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Expaned Edition) by John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter, and Daniel Davies. Released by Sacred Bones Records as catalog number SBR-231 in 2019. This is the limited edition Sacred Bones Record Society version, which included a mixtape released as catalog number SBRS-035.

The album is housed in an outer sleeve, with black slits, which animates the fire as the outer sleeve is removed. The back contains the halloween text. The cover has this image of Michael Myers, with flame beneath. The back contains the tracklisting, and a bloody knife. Opening the gatefold reveals this artistic image.

Since this was included as part of the Sacred Bones Record Society, an insert is included to verify this. The included cassette contains the tracklisting inside of the cover, however the tape was incorrectly dubbed with a different mixtape. A replacement mixtape with the proper dubbing was sent out to subscribers to correct this mistake.

This release contains two printed inner sleeves, with images of a pumpkin rotting in reverse, along with the tracklist for each side. The album is pressed on two blue with orange and black splatter, or ‘Bloody Jumpsuit’ LPs with the same pumpkin imagery on the labels for sides A, B, C, and D.

Today we are looking at, the Red Dead Redemption soundtrack by Bill Elm and Woody Jackson. Released by Wax Poetics Records as catalog number WPR009 in 2010. This release was limited to 1000 copies.

The cover has an image of John Marston with shotgun. The back contains the tracklisting and credits. The inside of the gatefold shows Bonnie and the MacFarlane ranch in the background.

The album is pressed on two deep red LPs for sides A, B, C, and D.

Reveal 0047: Mughal-E-Azam Soundtrack - Naushad

Today we are looking at the Mughal-E-Azam soundtrack by Naushad. Released by Odeon as catalog number 3AEX 5003 in 1976 for this original 1960 release. 

The cover has an image from the movie, along with movie title. The back contains information about the movie, the music director Naushad, and information about each track. But not the artist credits for each track, with only some tracks on the record label crediting the talented Lata Mangeshkar, who performed on the majority of the songs.

Reveal 0024: Death Stranding - Original Score

Today we are looking at the Death Stranding Score, composed by Ludvig Forssell. Released by Mondo as catalog number MOND-177 in 2020.  This was released as a triple gatefold to cover all 29 tracks across 3 LPs.

The cover has an image of  hands amongst some floating orbs. The back has the tracklisting and album credits.

Opening the trifold shows the lyrics for BB’s Theme on the right. With the beginning of a surrealist image on the left side, which expands as the trifold is fully opened. 

The record comes with an OBI style promo, with further details about this record, as well as promoting other releases by Mondo.

In addition, there is an insert included, with a message from Ludvig Forssell on the front, and credits for each track on the back. 

The album is pressed on 3 180g LPs. Clear and black splatter for sides One and Two. Clear with gold splatter for sides Three and Four. And Clear with red splatter for sides Five and Six.
