Reveal 0100: Anal Trump - The First 100 Songs

Today we are looking at, The First 100 Songs by Anal Trump. Released by Joyful Noise Recordings as catalog number JNR290 in 2018. This is the compilation for all previous Anal Trump EPs.

The cover has an artists depiction of a fat loser, pleasuring himself to a sad excuse for an authoritarian fever dream. The back contains the tracklisting for all 100 tracks, overlaid on a photograph of a smaller-than-the-average-size inauguration crowd.

This release includes an insert with the Anal Trump logo on one side, with a stylized A and  T. And the lyrics for all songs on the opposite side.

The album is pressed on one translucent green (or ‘drain the swamp green’) LP for side A, which contains all 100 tracks and spins at 45RPM. The second side contains a screenprinted Anal Trump logo, which shines through when backlit.

Today we are looking at, Hopelessness by ANOHNI. Released by Secretly Canadian as catalog number SC333LP in 2016. 

This marks her debut full length release under the ANOHNI name. The cover has this layered image, with the artist name, and album title. The back contains the tracklisting.

Reveal 0098: John Prine - John Prine

Today we are looking at the debut self titled release by John Prine. Reissued by Atlantic as catalog number R1 19156 in 2017, for this original 1971 release. 

The cover has this image of the artist, sitting on a hay bale. The back contains the tracklisting, a note about discovering John Prine by Kris Kristofferson, as well as the credits for the album.

This release includes an insert with the lyrics for each track on the front and back.

The album is pressed on 180g black vinyl for sides one, and two.

Reveal 0097: Halloween: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Today we are looking at, the Halloween: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Expaned Edition) by John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter, and Daniel Davies. Released by Sacred Bones Records as catalog number SBR-231 in 2019. This is the limited edition Sacred Bones Record Society version, which included a mixtape released as catalog number SBRS-035.

The album is housed in an outer sleeve, with black slits, which animates the fire as the outer sleeve is removed. The back contains the halloween text. The cover has this image of Michael Myers, with flame beneath. The back contains the tracklisting, and a bloody knife. Opening the gatefold reveals this artistic image.

Since this was included as part of the Sacred Bones Record Society, an insert is included to verify this. The included cassette contains the tracklisting inside of the cover, however the tape was incorrectly dubbed with a different mixtape. A replacement mixtape with the proper dubbing was sent out to subscribers to correct this mistake.

This release contains two printed inner sleeves, with images of a pumpkin rotting in reverse, along with the tracklist for each side. The album is pressed on two blue with orange and black splatter, or ‘Bloody Jumpsuit’ LPs with the same pumpkin imagery on the labels for sides A, B, C, and D.

Reveal 0096: Vinyl Moon Volume 005: Go Outsize

Today we are looking at, Vinyl Moon Volume 005: Go Outsize. Released by Vinyl Moon as catalog number Volume 005 in 2016. 

The front and back cover have a collage that expands across five panels as it is opened. Hidden messages are contained within the collage, including the Side A tracklisting on the inside and the Side B tracklisting on the outside when fully expanded. The spine text is seamlessly included on this lamp post.

This release also includes two inserts, the first contains a message from the founder, while the second insert conains the postcards for each track and the package artist, with some artwork on the front, and the lyrics and other info on the back.

The album is pressed on aquamarine for sides A, and B.

Reveal 0095: Fiendish Imp - Fiendish Imp/All Hallows Eve

Today we are looking at, Fiendish Imp and All Hallows Eve by Fiendish Imp. Released by Dunkelheit Produktionen as catalog number DP113LP in 2020.

This release combines the Fiendish Imp and All Hallows Eve EPs. The cover has the album artwork for the Fiendish Imp EP, showing an artists depiction of what Christians believe women are like. The back contains the tracklisting.

This release includes two inserts, the first shows the Fiendish Imp EP artwork on the front, and the All Hallows Eve EP artwork on the back. The second insert is a folded promo poster, noting the musical style of Fiendish Imp, “Lo-Fi Dungeon Synth From UK.”

Reveal 0094: Aleister Crowley - The Black Magic Masters

Today we are looking at, The Black Magic Masters by Aleister Crowley. Reissued by Cleopatra as catalog number CLP 2308 in 2015, for this original 1986 release. 

The cover has this image of the occultist. The back has a heptagram, the star of Babalon, with the writing “Sigillvm Sanctvm Fraternitatis A…A…” meaning “The Holy Seal of the Brotherhood of the Silver Star”. These are numbered with a gold stamp, out of 666 total numbered copies.

Today we are looking at, Vinyl Moon Volume 004: Surface Tension. Released by Vinyl Moon as catalog number Volume 004 in 2015.

This marks their ninth full length release, and first after an eight year hiatus. The cover has a drawing of land animals and birds flying towards a ship. The back contains woodland creatures in the woods. Opening the gatefold reveals the full image on the outside, while the inside of the gatefold contains drawings on the left and right sides.

This release contains two inserts, the first has the tracklisting on the front, and a message from the band with thanks and the credits on the back. The second insert is a folded poster of the outer gatefold image.

Today we are looking at, Born Into Trouble As the Sparks Fly Upward by the silver mt. zion memorial orchestra & tra-la-la band. Released by Constellation as catalog number cst018-1 in 2004, for this original 2001 release. This is the second pressing of this album.

This marks their second full length release. The cover has an image of a bird on a power line.
