This is the combined Crumb and Locket EPs, contained on a single 12”. The cover has the Crumb album artwork, while the back has the artowrk for Locket.

Reveal 0079: Vinyl Moon Volume 003: Halftone

Today we are looking at, Vinyl Moon Volume 003: Halftone. Released by Vinyl Moon as catalog number Volume 003 in 2015. 

The cover has three die cut slits, revealing the artwork underneath. The back has a matte and glossy pattern, as well as the numbering out of 700 copies. Opening the gatefold reveals the tracklisting connected by a thread.

This release includes an insert with a message from the founder, as well as a note that the included postcards will now be included as a single sheet of uncut postcards, with the artwork on the front, and lyrics on the back, for each track.

The packaging also includes a 20 page newpaper booklet with artwork from the featured artist, Clint Soren.

The album is pressed on one translucent bluee with black and white swirls LP for sides A, and B.

Reveal 0078: Ahab - The Call of the Wretched Sea

Today we are looking at, The Call of the Wretched Sea by Ahab. Reissued by Napalm Records as catalog number NPR 198 LP in 2012, for this original 2006 release. This is the second edition of this album, limited to 300 copies

This marks their debut full length release. The cover has an image of Moby Dick, among the band name and album title. The back contains the tracklisting and album credits. Inside the gatefold, the lyrics for each track are shown around images of the band. Also included are messages of thanks from the band, and a clarification for those who were unaware, “Ahab plays nautik funeral doom exclusively!”

The album is pressed on two sea green and black marbled LPs for sides A, B, C, and D.

Today we are looking at, The Loneliest Girl by Princess Chelsea. Released by Lil’ Chief Records as catalog number LCR050LP in 2018. 

This marks her fourth full length release. The cover has an image of the artist in a field, mimicking a 60’s style motif for the album. The back continues this style, and includes the tracklisting.

Reveal 0076: Run the Jewels - Meow the Jewels

Today we are looking at, Meow The Jewels by Run The Jewels. Released by Mass Appeal as catalog number MSAP0025LP in 2015.  This is the crowdfunded, cat focused, remix album of Run the Jewels 2, with all proceeds going to a charity benefiting the families of Eric Garner and Mike Brown.

The outer cover has cat paws forming the Run the Jewels logo on the front. The back contains the same image, however it is die cut, revealing the gatefold underneath. The gatefold contains a faux fur front cover, with the tracklisting on the back. Opening the gatefold reveals the full credits for the tracks and album, surrounding cat versions of El-P and Killer Mike in a car. 

This release includes two inserts, a sticker sheet, and a folded poster with the inner gatefold image on one side, and the lyrics for the songs on the opposite side. 

The album is pressed on two brown and black splatter LPs for sides A, B, C, and D.

Today we are looking at, Vinyl Moon Volume 002: Familiar Mystery by Vinyl Moon. Released by Vinyl Moon as catalog number Volume 002 in 2015.

Today we are looking at the Black Sabbath compilation, What Is This That Stands Before Me? Released by Sacred Bones Records as catalog number SBR-260 in 2020. This is the Sacred Bones Record Society release of this album

The Record Society releases come housed in a unique outer wraparound, some where black while this one is white, sealed by wax on the back, and hand numbered. This example is number 194 out of 250 total copies. The cover has this image of a man in a Sabbath jean jacket, underneath the album title. The back contains the tracklisting, with the band name before the Black Sabbath song they are performing.

Today we are looking at, The Music of Red Dead Redemption II Original Soundtrack. Released by Lakeshore Records as catalog number LKS35477 in 2019. This is the US pressing of this album.

The cover has a stylized drawing of Arthur Morgan. The back contains the tracklisting along with the performing artists. The inside of the gatefold contains the full credits for each song, above an image of the posse on a ride.

This release includes a printed slipcase for both records containing the same design for each, an intricate western pattern for the front, and the rockstar logo on the back. The album is pressed on two Translucent Red 180g LPs, and spins at 45RPM for sides A, B, C, and D.

Reveal 0065: Vinyl Moon Volume 001: Orbiting

Today we are looking at, Vinyl Moon Volume 001: Orbiting. Released by Vinyl Moon as catalog number Volume 001 in 2015. 

This marks the start of the Vinyl Moon subscription club. The cover has an image of the solar system, with the celestial bodies die cut and showing the color from the inside of the gatefold underneath. The back is zoomed in to part of the solar system, and shows other, smaller, celestial objects in orbit, as well as the numbering, 135 for this copy, out of 500 total copies. Opening the gatefold reveals an instrument panel providing the colors for the planets and star on the front cover.

It also includes 3 cutouts on the right side showing the track number, artist, and song title for each track as the slipcase is removed.

This release includes a packet with a folded insert containing a message from the founder, regarding the start of the subscription service. Also included is a sticker sheet, and a postcard with imagery on the front, and the lyrics on the back for each track. 

The slipcase shows different space themed images on the front, along with the tracklisting as seen through the cutouts on the inner gatefold.  The back of the slipcase shows a launching space shuttle, with several birds taking flight. The album is pressed on one grey marbled LP, with the solar system orbits on side A, and an instrument panel on side B.

Today we are looking at, And then nothing turned itself inside-out by Yo La Tengo. Released by Matador as catalog number OLE-371-0 in 2015, for this original 2000 release. 

The cover has an image of the suburbs in the nighttime, with a figure highlighted under a spotlight. The back contains a photo looking out an open door, along with the tracklisting. Inside of the gatefold contains an image of a man mowing in circles, as well as the credits for the album.

Reveal 0063: Yellow Eyes - Immersion Trench Reverie

Today we are looking at, Immersion Trench Reverie by Yellow Eyes. Released by Gilead Media as catalog number RELIC93 in 2017.  This is the test pressing that was sent to members of the Gilead Media Subscription Club. 105 test pressings were unable to be sold on the band’s European tour due to customs, so they were sent to club members due to delays in the color pressing.

The cover has an image of an intricate cloth pattern, with the band name and album title. The back contains the tracklisting. Opening the gatefold reveals the lyrics on the left side, and a photo of some gothing railing on the right.

The album is pressed on one black LP, with no writing on the label.

Today we are looking at the Music Sounds Better With You single by Stardust. Remastered by Because Music as catalog number BEC5543668 in 2019, for this original 1998 release. This is the 20th anniversary reissue of this single.

The cover is printed on glossy stock, with the bsand name, single title, and star border in gold. The back contains only the star border.

The single is pressed on one black 12”, with the titular single on side A, and a roulette wheel etching on side B.

Today we are looking at the Language of Numbers EP by My Disco. Released by Crashing Jets as catalog number CJ003 in 2004.

The release opens as a folio style casing, with the 10” EP being removed towards the center. The housing on the right shows the album credits, as well as a message from the band.
