Today we are looking at, Caligula by Lingua Ignota. Released by Profound Lore Records as catalog number PFL215LP in 2019.

This marks her first full length release by a label. The cover has this image of the artist highlighted in gold, with a bold chest tattoo serving as the album title labeling for the front of the record. The back has some religious imagery in a pristine scene. The inside of the gatefold contains a chaotic scene of gold and smashed glass, among two images of the artist throughout the years.

Today we are looking at, Pang by Caroline Polachek. Released by Perpetual Novice with no catalog number in 2020, for this original 2019 release. 

This marks her first full length release, despite being active in the music industry for many years. The cover has this image of the artist on a rope ladder, along with her logo. The back has a symmetrical design surrounding the tracklisting.

This release includes a poster, with the cover image on one side, and the lyrics and imagery for each track on the opposite side.

The album is pressed on black LP, with the labels reflecting a light and dark theme for sides AAA, and OOO.

Reveal 0056: Couch Slut - Contempt

Today we are looking at, Contempt by Couch Slut. Released by Gilead Media as catalog number RELIC86 in 2017. 

This marks their second full length release. The cover has this image of two joyous women in the foreground, with the silhouette of a familiar fat figure bound and walking towards the gallows in the background. The back contains the credits, along with an illustration of a woman lost in her own world, oblivious to the violent scene unfolding outside of her window.

This release includes an insert with an image of the gods punishing humans and the Couch Slut logo on one side. Along with the lyrics for the songs and another illustration on the opposite side once unfolded.

Reveal 0055: Charli XCX - Charli

Today we are looking at, Charli by Charli XCX. Released by Asylum Records as catalog number 0190295409579 in 2019. This is the European release of this album, sold at Charli’s live tour.

The cover has an image of Charli, with a lavender liquid metal treatment. The back contains the tracklisting. While the inside of the gatefold contains another image of Charli, along with a message of gratitude. 

The two printed inner sleeves contain the same lavender liquid metal design on one side, and the credits for the tracks on sides A and B. As well as sides C and D. For this black double LP, which spins at 45RPM.

Reveak 0053: Björk ‎- Selmasongs

Today we are looking at the Dancer in the Dark soundtrack, Selmasongs by Björk. Released by One Little Indian as catalog number TPLP151DMM in 2008 for this original 2000 release. This is the Direct Metal Mastering edition of this album

The direct metal mastering releases contain an outer PVC sleeve with a sticker noting the special edition. This example is number 681 out of 1000 copies. The cover has a polygonated image of Björk as the titular Selma. The back contains the tracklisting, along with the credits.

The inner sleeve contains only a thank you note from Björk on one side. The album is pressed on one black 200g LP for sides A, and B.

Today we are looking at the Mughal-E-Azam soundtrack by Naushad. Released by Odeon as catalog number 3AEX 5003 in 1976 for this original 1960 release.

But not the artist credits for each track, with only some tracks on the record label crediting the talented Lata Mangeshkar, who performed on the majority of the songs.

Today we are looking at, For This We Fought The Battle Of Ages by Subrosa. Released by Profound Lore Records as catalog number PFL-170.5 in 2016.

Reveal 0045: Stereolab - Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements

Today we are looking at, Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements by Stereolab. Released by Duophonic Ultra High Frequency Disks as catalog number D-UHF-D02 in 1993. This is the first pressing of this album.

The cover is the same as a Hi-Fi Sound Stereo Test Record from the 1960’s, with the color modified, and album name and band name added. The back contains the credits and the tracklisting, in a similar Hi-Fi test record style.

This release has two printed slip cases for the two records. The first slipcase has an image of a switch panel on the front, and some wavy lines on the back. While the second shows an image of a playing record player on the front, and some adjustment knobs on the back. The album is pressed on two black records, with the Duophonic Ultra High Frequency Disks logo on white on the first side, and the track listing for both sides contained on the back. Side 2 has a purple label, while side 4 has a red label.

Reveal 0044: Geinoh Yamashirogumi - Symphonic Suite Akira

Today, we are looking at the Symphonic Suite Akira, composed by Shoji Yamashiro and performed by Yamashirogumi Geinoh, released by Invitation as catalog number VIH-28339 in 1988. This is the original pressing of this score.

The cover has an embossed gold design and lettering, as well as an obi strip for the album. The back repeats the embossed design on a black background.

This release includes a folded booklet with additional information and credits for the album, additional details about the movie and composer, and a profile of Yamashirogumi Geinoh among the lyrics and other information contained in a differing direction on each corner of the back.

The album is pressed on black for sides 1 and 2.

Reveal 0043: XIU XIU - Daphny

Today we are looking at the 7” single, Daphny by XIU XIU. Released by Polyvinyl Record Company as catalog number  PRC-225-7 in 2011. 

The cover has this image, along with a poignant message from the band, inspired by the title track ‘Daphny’ which is about a friend of Jamie’s who was raped by a police officer after being arrested for shoplifting. The back contains the lyrics for the A side track, and the credits for both songs along the bottom.

The album is pressed on black, with a deep purple label, with no other writing, used for sides A, and B.

Reveal 0042: Hannah Diamond - Reflections (Deluxe Edition)

Today we are looking at, the limited deluxe edition of Reflections by Hannah Diamond. Released by PC Music as catalog number PC036D in 2020, for this original 2019 digital release. 

This marks her first full length release, and the deluxe edition was limited to 500 copies. The entire package is housed in a printed foil outer bag, with a repeating Hannah Diamond logo pattern on the front and back.

The cover has an image of Hannah sitting on a crescent moon, cropped further than the digital or standard edition vinyl release. This copy was signed by the artist on the cover. The back shows a shimmering diamond. The inside of the gatefold has this image of Hannah holding a star crystal.

This release includes a poster for the album, with the lyrics on the back with a color treatment that reveals a heart shaped lock in the middle. There are also 9 more posters representing the tracks on the album. My copy contained two copies of the ‘Never Again’ poster, and is missing the ‘Love Goes On’ poster.

Also included is a printed inner sleeve, with a message from Hannah Diamond on the front which is reversed, and the text faded, on the back. The album is pressed on crystal clear, with a Hannah Diamond logo on side One, and the tracklisting on side Two, surrounding a modified USB logo with key, heart, and heart lock.
